Thursday in Kolkatta

Thursday early morning we joined the group again to visit the Dakhineshwar temple by the Ganges. This is where Ramakrishna spent most of his life, where the famous Kali temple is located. Again we were not allowed to take any pictures in there. This is a much busier place compared to the Blur Math. In fact, our guide said that this is the second most visited temple in India, with about 26000 visitors a day. Entering the temple grounds requires one to go through a long marketplace of flower shops where they sell hibiscus and marigolds to offer at the temple. After buying flowers for our group we left our shoes before the entrance at the official shoe keeping area where a person watches over a group of shoes for a fee. We had to go through security screening due to recent temple bombings in Varanasi. We spent around an hour and a half at the temple grounds, visiting various areas including the Kali Temple, Ramakrishna's bedroom and the banyan tree, chanting and meditating at these various places.

We were at the Mukherjee's again for lunch and for more satsang. We scattered around the house in various rooms and we also had the opportunity to lay on the bed where Master and Sri Yukteswar had slept. It was a very peaceful afternoon.

The picture of today is the meditation room at the Mukherjee's where Master and Tulsi Bose had meditated together.
